Morning in the mountains
A classic view of sunrise at Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta. The forecast called for rain and we fell asleep to the thick pit-pat-pattering of water on the skylight. We had our alarm clocks set for 5am and awoke in the inky blueblack of predawn to thick low-lying clouds. We almost went back to bed but thought we could at least get some shots of Moraine in the fog so we headed out anyway. We ascended into the thick swirling clouds, trees like ghost silhouettes, the road disappearing from view only a few metres from the car. But eventually the fog began thinning and more and more trees and road came into view until we passed right through into a clear blue morning. Then all we had to do was get into position and wait.
