After a long, tiring, and very fun day climbing the basalt formations known as The Black Cliffs near Boise, Idaho, I wandered up a trail that follows the top edge of the cliffs. The Treasure Valley has really great sunsets, especially during the transitional periods between summer-fall and winter-spring, and this late summer day was no exception. I sat for a while just above my friends who were still climbing the rocks and waited for the sun to be just above the horizon so the tops of the trees would still be illuminated, but the shadows on the foothills would be strong enough to reveal their shape. While the x100s isn't a very rugged camera, it is quite light and well suited to always having with me for when inspiration for a photo strikes, just as it did on this day. More than 18 months later I still take that camera with me everywhere I go.
